Clark Atlanta University is committed to providing excellent teaching, research, creative works, scholarship, and services, which are linked to CAU’s history and heritage, mission, and core values. The Office of Online Learning and Continuing Education (OLCE) is the unit at Clark Atlanta University to lead the continuing education programs. The PLACE is a component of Office of Online Learning and Continuing Education offering non-credit courses and programs to earn continuing education units (CEUs).

Accessibility Policy
Accommodations are provided for learner accessibility in several modalities, included, but not limited to: Web accessibility resource, Accessibility checkers, accessible online courses, captioning videos, Multimedia, and Canvas accessibility.

Attendance Policy
To successfully complete a course and receive a certificate, badge, and or CEUs, learners must attend 80% of the class sessions, actively participate and complete all course/program requirements. Courses with four or less sessions require 100% attendance.
Material and Text
Many continuing education courses and programs include materials and text in course fees. Some courses may require the learner to purchase books and supplies that may not be included in the course fee. If applicable, this information will be posted with course information on website and available in advance to learners prior to registration. Some instructors may have proprietary interest in some of the resources used in this course. Participants are under no obligation to pay for any resources beyond those provided as part of the established registration fee. Policy for self-paced online courses are listed on website page.
Holiday Policy
The continuing education course operates on the Clark Atlanta University holiday calendar that can be found on website (www.cau.edu).
Minimum Age Requirement and Guests on Campus
Most of the courses in our continuing education have been developed for adult learners; therefore, we have a minimum age of 18 years old to enroll in our courses.
- Learners are not allowed to bring guests under the age of 18 into any CAU campus classrooms or locations. Unaccompanied individuals under the age of 18 will be asked to leave.
- Continuing education learners must make appropriate childcare arrangements prior to enrolling in courses.
- Refunds will not be granted to students who are unable to continue with coursework due to childcare issues.
The only exceptions to this policy are specialized courses or programs geared toward learners under the age of 18.
Inclement Weather
In the case of any weather that might cause a disruption to normal events, Clark Atlanta University has an Emergency Weather Plan that includes a wide variety of Metro Atlanta news media outlets that report weather-related closings. In case of a weather-related closing, or any other type of emergency closing, the University has an extensive media contact list for such emergency situations. For information about all radio and TV outlets that will be contacted upon closing, please visit the University’s main webpage at www.cau.edu. During any potential emergency weather situation, information about Clark Atlanta University’s plans will also be available on the web page and through the University’s main telephone number (404-880-8000).
Invoice Policy
If you are paying for your course through your organization/company, we will invoice them directly if you supply us with your company’s purchase order. Learners and/or organization should contact The PLACE consultant at 404-880-6192 to complete this process for payment.
Records Requests & Policy
If you would like a copy of your record,
- Contact The PLACE Consultant at theplace@cau.edu. Learners should include name, course/record information requested, time of attendance. Learners can also submit a request by completing a records request form.
- Information will be verified, processed, and recorded forwarded, and record forwarded in 7-14 business days.

OLCE Records Policy
Online Learning and Continuing Education ensures the privacy and information security of learners’ records to include registration account information, maintenance, and release of records. FERPA guidelines are adhered to as outlined by Clark Atlanta University.

PAYMENT OPTIONS
CREDIT/DEBIT CARDS
The easiest way to pay for courses with the Professional Learning and Continuing Education at CAU is using any major credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover) and Debit cards with any of these logos are accepted and processed automatically as credit cards.
CHECKS
The PLACE accepts payments by check for Corporate PO. We cannot accept cash payments. All check payments must be received ten (10) business days prior to course start.
Financial Aid
Professional Learning and Continuing Education at CAU is not able to accept any form of financial aid including Pell Grant, Stafford Loan, AmeriCorps, or HOPE Grant.
Discounts
Professional Learning and Continuing Education at CAU offers special discount opportunities. Returning PLACE learners and faculty, staff, alumni, and current students may be eligible to receive a discount by virtue of their affiliations with Clark Atlanta University.
Cancellation Policy
Professional Learning and Continuing Education at CAU reserves the right to cancel or reschedule classes due to low enrollment. Such decisions may be made three (3) business days prior to the class begin date.
- If a course is rescheduled for any reason, those registered will be contacted to verify availability for the rescheduled date. If those registered are not available for the rescheduled class date, tuition will be refunded in full.
- If a course is canceled, tuition will be refunded in full.
- If learner cancels participation, the option to select another course is of equal or more in value.
- Refunds to the original form of payment can be processed on request.
Discontinued Policy
Professional Learning and Continuing Education at CAU reserves the right to discontinue, postpone, combine, and/or change instructors for a course or program without notice. Refunds prompted by discontinuation will be made in full and can be made to the original form of payment upon request.
Drop / Withdrawal Policy
- If a learner chooses to withdraw from a course, notification must be received in writing—via electronically no fewer than (5) five days before course start date. (Notification may be required earlier if noted in a course or program description that says materials that are ordered upon registration.) Refunds are considered on a case basis, minus a $50 processing fee or less 20% of payment whichever is greater. No refunds will be given after this period. If you fail to attend a course you forfeit the full course tuition. Policy for self-paced online courses are listed on website page.

Refund Policy
Refunds are considered on a case basis and requests are received in writing no fewer than five days prior to the course start date, approved refunds will be made in the form of the original payment.
- All refunds are will be subject to less a $50 processing fee or 20% of original payment, whichever is greater.
- Please allow up to four weeks for check refunds.
- Failure to attend class or stopping payment on a check or credit card does not constitute withdrawal.
- A $35 fee will be charged for returned checks and stop payments.

Transfer Policy
Learners may not transfer courses unless the current selection is canceled, rescheduled, or discontinued. If you fail to attend a course you forfeit the full course tuition. Policy for self-paced online courses are listed on website page
